Agility at Camp Weed
CAMP
ORIENTATION
Dear Seminar Participant,
Please read the following carefully. If you have any questions, contact me as soon as possible.
Here are some things
to expect at Camp Weed:
Both cabins and motel rooms have air conditioning and heat.
There are NO PHONES in the rooms. There is a pay phone and phones
in the lobby. Cell phones are not always reliable - particularly indoors. Wi-Fi internet access is usually available in the Main Building (dining hall.)
There is NO TV in the rooms but there is a set in the Main Building.
Food is very good. However, special diets must be addressed prior to arriving.
Camp Weed is in a "dry" county - this means, if you have needs, BYO.
Check-in
the first day is generally late afternoon or evening. Dinner and the Seminar
Orientation (Orientation approximately 7:15 pm) will follow. (Check-ins often depend upon prior guests departure
times.)
NOTE:
Camp Weed requires a $50.00 room deposit from each motel room. This is
refundable one week from your departure if your room is as you found it
and free of fleas after fogging. I will collect
these funds at check-in (check or charge card) on behalf of Camp Weed
and handle any disbursement.
Check-out
is as detailed in the individual camp information.
ITEMS TO BRING:
Cabin Campers
Please bring
a sleeping bag or sheets and mattress pad, a blanket, pillow & pillowcase, towels and
bath mat. You must also provide your own toileties. The camp can provide bedding for a fee if you prefer. Cabins have very low light levels. A bright
reading / bedside light and a flashlight are most helpful. A "baby gate"
will allow your dog a little freedom while you are in your "bedroom".
Motel Room Campers
All bedding & towels
are provided. Please do not use Camp Weed's towels on your dogs - bring
your own. Bring 2 extra blankets or sheets to cover your 2 queen beds;
this is to protect Camp Weeds blankets. Your damage deposit depends
on this!
ALL Campers
Bring a "3-ring" binder for distributed paper work.
Please bring a spare sheet or plastic tarp
for under your crate to protect carpeting & wood flooring.
A flashlight is needed for morning and evening dog walks. Baggies will
be needed as well for removing dog waste.
For your personal
pleasure, you may wish to bring a radio, small coffeepot, your favorite
coffee, munchies, sodas etc. Coffee and tea are usually available 24 hrs. If you have a cooler, you can get ice from the kitchen staff. (The kitchen frig and freezer are not available to campers.) Personal medications, toiletries (cabins provide nothing - motel rooms provide generic soap, etc.), sunscreen
and bug spray should round out your list.
Clothing
You need to
be prepared for both warm and cool temperatures. All training sessions
are held outdoors come rain or shine. Clothes for layering
are ideal as temperatures can range the 30s to the 80s at
this time of year. Bring rainwear, waterproof footwear and extra socks.
A ground gripping soccer shoe/Dita is needed for field work.

For Your Dog
You will need
to protect your dog against Lyme disease a few weeks before camp begins.
A compatible flea spray may be necessary during the camp. (Again, your
damage deposit depends upon your room being left flea-free.) You will
need to bring dog towels. Please do not use Camp Weed towels or bath mats
on your dog. Bring plastic bags for pick up after your dog.
You must bring a crate. Your dog MUST
be crated whenever you leave him or her in your room so that housekeeping
can service your room.
Dont forget dog food, dishes, treats, shade
tent and outdoor chair.
